There is hardly anyone who does not know about BBC – British Broadcasting Corporation. Yet there are very few who get to see what happens behind the scenes at this world famous television center. The BBC Television Center located at the White City in London is the headquarters of BBC Television and is famous for being one of the largest of its kind since the 1960′s. Over the years, various extensions have been made to maximise the potential of the building. There is however plans to sell off the building by the end of 2013 though this decision have met with a large and wide protest across the country. The architecture of the building is quite interesting as well. When you have a look at the building from the air, it looks much like a question mark, as visualised by its creator. Shaped like a doughnut, the circular central block gives easy access for cabling from all the important rooms surrounding it. These include the studios, engineering areas, offices and of course the newly constructed News Center. The cables are located well at equidistance from the Central Apparatus Room. The major attraction of the doughnut however remains the statue of Helios designed by T. B. Huxley Jones. Though initially a water fountain was planned at this spot, its disturbing sound led to it being replaced by the beautiful figurine. The place is absolutely stunning with some marvellously huge studios that promise you an exciting tour.
